Ok, I get the whole “booking Lea T., Marlon, Terry Richardson and a gay kiss” thing. But they are nothing but gimmicks.

Lea T. is far from being a swimsuit model – she’s much more Givenchy then Victoria’s Secret and there are far better choices out there. Having Terry Richardson to shoot a campaign to make it “edgy” is getting old. And a gay kiss is not the only thing a brand can do to appeal to a gay audience. Just seeing the last Butch campaigns makes a good example of how you can do that without being obvious.

But they did it. It was on the front page of Folha de São Paulo all day long yesterday. Kudos for the marketing team, but is marketing all that is to it?

Oh, and btw. The swimsuits are fugly as s#$t.

I congratulate the brand for having the balls to do that. They should not lose their straight customers because of the kiss. But they will sure get a lot of attention from gay customers. Many guys will stop importing Andrew Christian and Aussie Bum.

I have absolutely nothing against someones sexual preference, however, does having two men kissing really sell a swimsuit. I think not. When purchasing any kind of swimwear, clothes, etc. I’m not looking to see if a transsexual is wearing the item or not. I’m looking at the design, the cost, and how it holds up. Time to try another way of selling their clothing lines.

I have to agree with you. Blue Man was in need of a new and stronger direction, but it is still in need of new and interesting products.
