Fashion Rio F/W 2014:
5 Men’s Looks From Herchcovitch

More From The S/S 2014 Shows In Brazil:
Éverton Araujo At Mega Model

19-year-old Éverton Souza from Brasília made his debut at SPFW and Fashion Rio this season walking for labels such as Osklen, Triton, Colcci, Herchcovitch, TNG, and Coca-Cola Clothing.

The Top 4 Brazilian Shows
For Spring/Summer 2014

Blue Man. Fun, youthful, fresh, and everything you would expect from a show in Rio. Also, one of the few shows in Brazil which was even better than last summer’s, and that actually relates completely to the merchandise you will see in stores come spring in the southern hemisphere.

Osklen. More minimal and polished than in past seasons, but still perfectly edited. I just wish the runway were more coherent with the collection which will actually be available in stores, and that there were more interesting options on the menswear side of the collection.

Lenny Niemeyer. You can always count on Lenny to deliver one of the best spring shows in Brazil. There were not many innovations in either the cut or print of the swimsuits this season, but it looked chic, powerful, and refined as always.

Herchcovitch. In his second line, Herchcovitch delivered the best jeanswear collection of the season, with the most interesting washes, silhouettes, and combinations of textiles. Other jeanswear and streetwear labels in the country should pay attention and learn that a great show doesn’t need any theatricals or the presence of international models or celebrities. All it needs is great clothes and good design.

On a side note, this was a particularly difficult season in Brazil as important names in the calendar did not show their collections for lack of funding and sponsorship and delayed fabric deliveries. Design value was at an all time low.

Thayná Santos Is The Girl Who Booked
The Most Shows In Brazil This Season

Newcomer Thayná Santos made her runway debut in New York earlier this year with bookings for 3.1 Phillip Lim, Thakoon, Theyskens’ Theory, and more. On her first season in Brazil she walked a total of 35 shows, 20 of them in Rio last week, becoming not only the girl who booked the most shows at Fashion Rio, but also overall the girl with the most bookings at the spring/summer 2014 collections in the country. She is represented by KeeMod in São Paulo and Marilyn in New York.

The Boy Of The Season:
Frederico Jobim

Ford’s Frederico Jobim may not have walked all the shows in São Paulo and Rio, but out of all the new boys in Brazil this season, he is one of my clear favorites and one that I cannot wait to work with again. He is scheduled to leave for Milan this weekend.
