Blue Man. Fun, youthful, fresh, and everything you would expect from a show in Rio. Also, one of the few shows in Brazil which was even better than last summer’s, and that actually relates completely to the merchandise you will see in stores come spring in the southern hemisphere.
Osklen. More minimal and polished than in past seasons, but still perfectly edited. I just wish the runway were more coherent with the collection which will actually be available in stores, and that there were more interesting options on the menswear side of the collection.
Lenny Niemeyer. You can always count on Lenny to deliver one of the best spring shows in Brazil. There were not many innovations in either the cut or print of the swimsuits this season, but it looked chic, powerful, and refined as always.
Herchcovitch. In his second line, Herchcovitch delivered the best jeanswear collection of the season, with the most interesting washes, silhouettes, and combinations of textiles. Other jeanswear and streetwear labels in the country should pay attention and learn that a great show doesn’t need any theatricals or the presence of international models or celebrities. All it needs is great clothes and good design.
On a side note, this was a particularly difficult season in Brazil as important names in the calendar did not show their collections for lack of funding and sponsorship and delayed fabric deliveries. Design value was at an all time low.

I loved the collection on the runway, but I wish the new ad campaign lensed by Zee Nunes was more in line with last spring’s beautiful ad campaign shot by Vavá Ribeiro. Osklen is supposed to be effortlessly cool, and there is zero need for trying so hard to look conceptual.
On a side note, Thairine Garcia is yet again the go-to girl for ad campaigns this season in Brazil, also appearing in ads for Colcci, 2nd Floor, and Iódice.
